INEC NATIONAL COMMISSIONER FOR INFORMATION, TACKLES IGINI OVER MIS INTERPRETATION OF THE ELECTORAL ACTS

INEC National Commissioner for Information Barr. Festus Okoye disagrees with Mike Igini, says Section 115 (1) of the Electoral Act does not apply to Party Primaries.

INEC National Commissioner for Information Barr. Festus Okoye disagrees with Mike Igini, says Section 115 (1) of the Electoral Act does not apply to Party Primaries.

In a statement this morning,  he stated that Section 115 (1) (d) of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended) applies to Form EC13 A - D (issued by INEC) and not Party nomination forms.

According to him, Igini is a liar and confusionist. His views on Section 115 (1) (d) of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended) do not reflect the Law.
So far, it is not true that anyone is going to jail under Section 115 (1) (d) of the Electoral Act, 2022 (as amended).

Only INEC National Monitors sent from Abuja can monitor Party Primaries organized by the NWC of Political Parties. Primaries are not conducted by State Working Committees of Political Parties.

Finally, he stated the position of INEC in taken decisions on Party Primaries irrespective of how big the Monitoring Reports submitted by RECs.
